Greeting Card Universe Gets A Makeover
Posted by: | CommentsGreeting Card Universe has updated their main page. I have to say, I like it better. It seems a bit cleaner. When I land on the front page, I can see about 7 1/2 cards at first glance. It’s also obvious from the get-go now that this site sells paper greeting cards.
So what’s on the front page? There’s a place for a special promotion and new cards and best sellers above the fold. Below the fold, there’s a featured artist, some popular shopping category links, a widget that displays a slideshow of cards that just sold, and customer testimonials.
The pages are also wider. That was one thing that turned me off about the original aesthetics of the site. I absolutely hate sites that seem to be a narrow strip down the middle of your browser. According to their forums, there are plans to widen all of the shops as well, but this probably won’t be done until after Christmas.
Is it just me, or are the lighter blue links hard to read? The end of the logo where it fades out is harder for me to read as well. Maybe I’m just old. LOL

Greeting Card Universe- Third Quarter Payments
Posted by: | CommentsIf you are waiting on commissions from Greeting Card Universe, payment will soon be processed. According to the announcement at the GCU forum:
The 3rd quarter payments are being processed reflecting commissions earned from 7/1/08 – 9/30/08. The checks are scheduled to be in the mail or PayPal payments made by Thursday, October 30th.
Payments will be made to artists who are owed a minimum of $25 by the end of the pay period (9/30/08) or accordingly if you have changed your Minimum Payment to a greater amount.
Please Note: Your Earnings & Payments report may show a pending amount. If you have had sales after 9/30/08 then the commissions are not part of the amount due for 3rd quarter payment. You can see your earnings due for 3rd quarter by adjusting your Earnings History date range to 7/1/08 – 9/30/08 (or earlier start date if you have yet to earn over your minimum):

Additionally, your current payment reflects your 3rd quarter earnings less any card purchases you have made using your earned fees.
For next pay period, you can change your Payment To name, Mailing Address, Minimum Payment, Payment Method (check or PayPal) as well as update your Tax ID # or Social Security # in Account Information:

Greeting Card Universe Raises Prices
Posted by: | Comments
Lately, I seem to be announcing several price increases with the POD companies. First Printfection… then CafePress. Now Greeting Card Universe has announced an increase of their own. Effective yesterday, greeting card prices for customers increased from $2.49 to $2.79.
The silver lining? The artists will receive a small commission increase. For orders under under 25 cards, the commission has increased 6 cents. Instead of the standard 50 cents, artists will now make 56 cents. Not much… but hey! With soaring gas prices, every penny helps!
