I need some advice.

I've been using cafe press for years. I became totally disillusioned by them when they went to a straight 10% commission structure for shop keepers. I'm looking for another t-shirt site to "open shop" in.
This is what I'm looking for:

1. Not limited to vector graphics for t-shirt designs - the ability to use a wide range of design methods on t-shirts (things like photographic quality, old print advertising from magazines, my own photoshop created pixel based designs etc..

2. Reasonable shop costs

3. Reasonable commission payouts - Ideally a Mark-up structure (shirt priced at 20.00, I charge 25.00, I get 5.00)

4. Good customer service for both the shop-keeper and product buyer.

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Kim. I closed my CP shop last year. It was the first POD site I ever discovered and joined in 2005. Fortunately, I hadn't quite worked on it full time before I discovered Zazzle 2 years later. After some growing pains, Zazzle eventually became my POD of choice. Closing my CP shop was kind of anti-climatic.

Since then I have also opened up shops at Printfection, T-Shirt Monster, Spreadshirt and Skreened. I don't miss CP one bit.

I will have to make an effort to dust off my shop and try this out. This moves Printfection a small step closer to the big guys.

Hi All!
These are all very good suggestions regarding promoting your shops.

I do however have a bone to pick regarding cafepress. Due to censorship and the closing of threads in forums regarding the topic, I post my concerns here.

I have been with cafepress since 2006 and did quite well with 50% sales from my shop, until these new marketplace "changes" took place. My July sales have plummeted 75%. with a meager 1 "shop sale".

I found 5 other free online gift and t-shirt shops that I am quite happy with (comboutique, spreadshirt, zazzle, tshirtmonster and wordans). I will be investing my design time into these shops, and will be moving away from cafepress unless their policies return to a fair practice for us designers, who are the backbone of cafepress.

I edited the post to add that it appears that other .be URL's are surfacing, so the list will be incomplete. I would beware of clicking any .be links unless you KNOW for sure where they go.
