Is anyone else that has the CP $5 off coupon offer linked from their store homepage considering removing it?

Lately, it seems several days pass after a code expires without being updated and I'm concerned it sends the wrong message to my customers when they click on a "Save $5" link and the code is significantly outdated.

For example, the previous code ended on Sept 28 and it's now Oct 7!

I should point out that I know the code is user-updated (ie: people email a new code to cpcoupons) and that probably less shopkeepers are buying from CP, so I do understand the cause of this.

yeah Dave.... I'm pretty sure shopkeepers were heavy buyers and I'd say a LOT less are buying from CP... and many of us were in the habit of emailing those codes in... a regular customer probably wouldn't know to do that... since we're now making our purchases from Zazzle and such, there's probably not that many codes being mailed in...

I've thought about just ditching it... the periods of time that some of them last are way too short.... I think someone posted a free shipping today or yesterday that expires tomorrow... meh... ain't worth the effort to change the code out on my site.... (I CURL my own)

Same here. Don't use em. Well, except for the ridiculous $5 off 9 jillion dollar coups that expire in 5 years.

I have noticed that lately SpeakUpDesigns feed has been staying up to date...

Interesting. Any idea where Speakup gets their codes? Do we know if they actually work? I'll hardcode them in if they are.

BTW, the script at CPCoupons is gone as of today. It's just a blank page now so if you're still using this feed, you'll probably want to remove it altogether.

interesting because about 2 months ago, i removed my script with the SpeakUpDesigns code because it was either not up to date or blank and i thought it looked bad on my site.

I always was interested in trying to see some stats as to how many people ACTUALLY even used a coupon code when purchasing.  if they weren't even using it, doesn't really matter to me.  plus, most people (including myself) aren't going to purchase 2 shirts JUST to get $5 off.  it's just not enough.  I've had many convos with CP (especially as part of CPV) regarding how to create a better coupon experience for us as shopkeepers that would hopefully turn into a better experience for the customer...unfortunately, there are so many issues with this that I never even considered.

Yup it was like that. I used to check SpeakupDesigns regularly to see if they had any coupons I had missed finding. I had stopped checking them back then because it was still showing coupons that were over a month old. I figured he had given up on his CP shop (this was right around the time of the MP debacle). Then about a month ago when CPCoupons feed went for like a week without updating, I searched around and looked at SpeakUps and saw they were being updated again there.


Speakups feed won't be much help for today though. One code is outdated the other one (which expires in Nov) says its outdated...

Speak was dealing with a few real life things, so his shop was a bit lax for a while. He's recently gotten settled and will probably keep it up to date more, so I'd say his feed will be relatively stable right now IF a coupon can be found.

I can do a feed if you're interested. You'd know where to come to kick for a new coupon code. I haven't kept my personal one up to date, but I would if I had people yelling at me

The only thing worse than having no coupon is having an outdated coupon. Which is why I don't bother much with CP's anymore. Just looks like you're a ramshackle biz that doesn't care about anything. Especially customersz.

Gary... yeah... that's why I've been removing some of my coupon feeds.... it's hard to find current coupons at the moment....

Out of the current feeds, I'd say Speak's will be the most reliable right now....

I'm with Arcade Novelties.... I'm getting a completely blank page at cpcoupon...

Ideally, CafePress should do like Zazzle and code the coupon into the shops, but yeah... sure... yeah...

Well zaz duzn't if you use a ref #. It automagically erases it.

There was a period of time that the feed was appearing blank due to an error in the javascript.  My own site had the same issue.

If anyone has coupons or notices an issue, feel free to contact me from the website or even here.

There is some information  I have found out recently from CP directly.  They are making coupon changes.  Coupons can now either be valid for the marketplace, shop, or both.  One coupon that did work in shops was given me an error message this morning.

Or they'll announce coupons are MP only as they are "working on shop-specific coupons" - which will be launched 'soon'.

Today, 19 October 2009, the coupon page is blank. Don't know if it's been blank since the 10th - we don't check it, but a customer just wrote us asking where it is. I guess we will remove it. Too bad, it was a nice incentive.

The same coupon was in my feed Dusty... it was supposed to expire yesterday, so I was afraid of it....

I've temporarily replaced it with the lamearsed $5 off $75 until we luck up on a better one... here's my feed if anyone wants it... it looks like the one at kayecee.com but I have a different script that I use there because I display Zazzle stamps along with my CP products... that particular feed has a blurb about the coupon not being valid with stamps... this feed below is the one I use at my other sites and doesn't have that same blurb:
