Zazzle Introduces Custom Shoes

Zazzle has a new product today…. custom shoes! These shoes look great and should be a lot of fun to design for. There are 5 styles to choose from…. 3 for women and 2 for kids. Make sure you read the design disclaimer! The shoe size can have an effect on the appearance of the design. Reported problems also include reversed text on one shoe in the preview.

As I was reading their announcement, I realized that I didn’t agree with a statement made and have issues with it:

Zazzle, the world’s best website for print-on-demand products, is the first and only to offer a new technology that allows you to create shoes from your own artwork and photos instantly.

*ahem* I think they need to do their homework…. Spreadshirt has offered shoes for quite some time! Just click the Product link in the .

The shoe may not be as pretty and they may only have one style, but Zazzle can’t claim that they are the “first and only” POD that allows you to create shoes from your own artworks and photos.

Also, they claim that they allow you to create shoes “instantly.” I’m hearing a different story from shopkeepers. At least one shopkeeper has reported that they are waiting on design approval. Design approval?!? Uhm….. that’s not quite “instant” to me!

Although the announcement could have used some work, overall, this looks like an excellent product to design….. very unique offering with the holiday season approaching.

So, hey…. what are you waiting for? Get busy with your designs at Zazzle! If you’ve designed some shoes for sale, drop us a link in the comments. I’d love to see some!

  1. I thought the same thing about Spreadshirt when I read the announcement. Anyway these Keds are pretty cool and not too painful to create. Here’s my first try.

  2. Spreadshirt doesn’t offer fully custom shoes, they just give you a 2-inch square area where they’ll glue a piece of your art. It looks like the zazzle shoes are fully printed, cut, and hand-made.

  3. Oooooo…. Amy… those are very pretty! I love the color!

Tom…. yeah…. I know that Spreadshirt doesn’t offer FULLY customizable shoes, BUT they do offer shoes that you can customize with your own artwork, so Zazzle can’t technically claim that they’re the “first and only”…. Zazzle’s product is much nicer than Spreadshirts IMO… I’m tickled to see them…. should be fun creating a site with custom shoes…. :)

  4. Yeah, my shoes are all in the “pending approval” stage. Sigh. But the shoes are pretty cool. Keds brand is so prominately mentioned that they probably are insisting on a chance to review so they don’t get any unfavorable press from designs which might be considered to be offensive.

  5. When I noticed Zazzle offering another design outlet - on Shoes, I was So Excited. I kept Thinking, “Happy Feet”.

Apparently, I gave the heads of Zazzle a Smile and was Awarded “Today’s Best”. Now that’s something to Smile about. Please check out my Fun New Obsession, and here’s Hoping they bring a Smile to YOU and Your Feet ! ~ Smile and You’ll Find YourSelf Smiling.
